Good Sanitary Conditions Will Improve Health
Diarrhea is a serious disease around the world. Millions of children die every year because of this disease. The people who suffer from diarrhea suffer from impaired physical growth, malnutrition, and low immunity response. This disease is mostly associated with poor hygiene. The other diseases like worm infestations and tuberculosis often affect people living in the slums. Because of the poor living conditions in the slums, both adults and children are at risk of being affected with these illnesses.
The increased illness rates result to people not going to work and students not attending school. This affects the economic development. By having suitable sanitation and hygiene, it will improve the public health, as well as promoting other social benefits. This will include; taking less time when gathering drinking water, no school absenteeism, and less time when taking care of the sick. Well, social service in India has made it very possible. They provide treatment to the sick residents and also offer them with sleeping mosquito nets to protect them from being bitten by mosquitoes. This has reduced the spread of mosquitoes within the slums.
The India NGO focuses more educating people on hygiene. They promote awareness about the dangers of living in unsanitary conditions, hoping a change in their behavior will help improve public health. The organization works together with the communities in promoting a safe environment. The aim of the organization is to ensure that members of the community have a means of improving their garbage removal and water supply.
