The majority of people have chalked the rumours that are floating through the online poker world of regarding the reopening of the iconic poker website, PokerRoom.com, to just that – a rumour. Since the reveal of the fact that PokerRoom.com would be reopening through an announcement by the SEO of bwin, that was quickly deleted, rumours have been buzzing in anticipation of the website’s renewal.

Chalking up a mistaken tweet is one thing, but what about the hints about the upcoming revamp of PokerRoom that are seen through the banner that was released on their website? The banner on the PokerRoom.com website stated that PokerRoom.com was going ‘back to the future’. The banner indicated to many that the website would be coming back to its original glory of offering poker cash games.

PokerRoom.com was one of the first online real money poker websites to allow players to deposit money into the website and play against other poker players in sit-and-go as well as tournament games.  After nearly a decade of operation the website was forced to close due to increasing financial difficulties and has remained that way for three years.

All of the sudden the tweet that stated PokerRoom.com is getting ready to accommodate players once again is released and the banner is changed on the website to foreshadow this ‘back to the future’ concept that just might mean that PokerRoom is getting ready to make a comeback into the world of online poker.  Unfortunately, they still will not be a US poker room as they would likely return to the Ongame network.

Now, the foreshadowing banner has been replaced with the ‘under construction’ status of the website which is creating even more rumours that PokerRoom.com might be coming back – and still there have been no official releases from the operators of PokerRoom that confirm or deny the website being revamped to facilitate online poker play for 2012.
